All About Me
I am offering tuition sessions to students preparing for their 11+ Common Entrance Exams and to children from Years 1 to 6 in both Numeracy and Literacy.
I have been a primary school teacher and tutor for the past 20 years. I graduated in 1987 from De Montford University with a BA (Honours) Degree in Combined Arts, majoring in English Language and English Literature. After working for several years in both the retail and catering fields in a managerial capacity, I completed my PGCE Teacher Training Course at South Bank University, London, in the year 2000 and gained my QTS status in 2001. I coordinated the Gifted and Talented Department in my first teaching role of eight years and later led an intervention team in Literacy and Numeracy for Year 6 children preparing for their SATS. More recently, I have acted as an Advisory Teacher to Year 6 teachers, whilst continuing to lead intervention teams and tutoring students towards their 11+ Common Entrance Exams.
I have an in-depth knowledge of both Year 6 learning requirements and requirements for the preparation of 11+ Common Entrance Exams. I am offering tuition sessions to both pupils studying for their 11+ Common Entrance Exams and to children from Years 1 to 6, having taught successfully across both key stages, more particularly children in Upper Key Stage 2.
I have an open, understanding and caring approach to teaching and learning, which enables children to address any misconceptions in their learning and overcome any learning barriers. My years of experience and skillsets have enabled children to access their learning in a clear and structured way, thus enabling children to reach their full learning potential and (many times) beyond. My approach to teaching instils in children a life – long love of learning and prepares them for transitions in their learning journeys in a happy and successful way.
I am now investing my time in offering tuition services to students preparing for their 11+ Common Entrance Exams and to children form Years 1 to 6 in both/either Numeracy and Literacy and look forward to working with you and your children.
