Entrance Criteria

School: Wolverhampton Girls' High School


Admission is based on the results of the Entrance Test. The Test is administered as part of a Consortium of Grammar Schools in Shropshire, Walsall & Wolverhampton. The Test comprises two papers, each of approximately 60 minutes. The papers are divided into smaller, individually timed, sections which test: verbal ability/non-verbal ability and numerical ability. Children complete all answers on an OMR answer sheet. Questions take a multiple-choice format and the test instructions and timings are delivered via an audio recording.

There are many opportunities for students to get involved in a range of activities outside the classroom. The PE department offer lunch-time and after school clubs in a wide range of sports: athletics, cheerleading, cross country, dance, kick boxing, gymnastics, fitness and games including badminton, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis. Girls take part in matches and tournaments against other schools locally and regionally. They are also encouraged to take part in City and County teams and beyond.​


Alongside this there is a varied programme of other activities including: Chess Club, Choir, Concert Band, Drama, Debating, Fair Trade, Languages, Magistrates’ Mock Trial, String Orchestra, Rock and Pop, residential and day trips.
