Entrance Criteria

School: Oldham Hulme Grammar School


Students are required to sit the OHGS examination which consists of papers in English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning.

Candidates who perform sufficiently well in the examination will be invited to attend an interview in February of the year of entry. In selecting candidates for admission, the school takes account of their current school report and any special circumstances.

School Extracurricular

The school's extra-curricular programme is rich and varied and runs across the age range.

Their PE departments run teams in sports; 115 students take instrumental music lessons, their Combined Cadet Force is flourishing and challenges its cadets in a range of exciting ways. 88% of Year 9 are undertaking Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards; 54% of Year 12 Gold awards. The award has stood the test of time building resilience, teamwork and community spirit. Over 100 pupils annually take part in the school show.

Recent additional clubs have included fencing and coding club.
