Bradford Grammar School Priority Catchment Area

  • Travelling by Road
    Bradford Grammar School lies two miles to the north of the City Centre on the A650 Keighley Road. The School occupies a 25 acre site opposite Lister Park.
    It is situated close to the M62 and M1 and can be easily reached from the UK motorway network via the M606. At the end of the M606 turn right, joining the A6177 Ring Road West (Rooley Lane). At the second roundabout turn left onto the A650 towards the City Centre.

    After two more roundabouts, keep right, following the A650 Keighley and Skipton road around the eastern side of the City Centre. Continue straight ahead, following the A650 and then the A6037 towards Shipley. After the garden centre on the left, take the slip road past the railway station. Turn up Frizinghall Road. The School, with visitor parking, is at the top of the road to the left.
  • Travelling by Bus
    We are committed to ensuring that students travel to and from the School simply and safely.
    The majority of our pupils travel to and from the School by bus or train from areas such as Ilkley, Skipton, Leeds, Halifax and Huddersfield.

    We provide dedicated buses from a number of locations, including Huddersfield, Halifax and the Calder Valley, Bramhope, Headingley, Horsforth, Oakworth, Rawdon and Oxenhope.
  • Travelling by Train
    Frizinghall train station is within a five minute walk of the school.
    We provide a daily patrol team who ensure that pupils walk between the station and the school safely and sensibly. There are direct rail connections from Frizinghall train station to Leeds, Airedale and Wharfedale, Skipton, Ilkley and Apperley Bridge.

    Travelling by Air
    By air Bradford Grammar School is easily reached via Leeds Bradford airport, seven miles from the School.
    From the airport take the A658 (signposted Bradford). Continue along the A658 towards Bradford on Harrogate Road. Having passed Sainsbury’s, at the next roundabout, follow the signs to the football stadium (Bradford North A6176, Ring Road A6177). Continue along this road, going straight across at the Idle Road cross roads.

    Turn right, following the sign to Ring Road A6177/ Motorways/football stadium. Still on the A6177 continue forward at traffic signals (signposted Ring Road, Keighley, Shipley). At the third set of traffic signals, turn right onto the A650 (signposted Keighley, Skipton). Drive past the School on the right and Lister Park on the left and at the traffic signals turn right on to Frizinghall Road.

We actively encourage students to partake in co-curricular activities, and set aside ample time for young adults to pursue their interests. Rowing, debating, crafts, chess, languages … The full termly-list of co-curricular activities is available in our  With over 50 clubs and societies for students to explore–including those that will nurture their academic success–the opportunities for personal development truly are endless. Students can choose to be involved with anything from Debating, Biomedical and Classics Societies to Micro:bit, Games and Handmade Clubs, there is something for everyone.

Nestling on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, and within striking distance of the Lake District, opportunities abound for outdoor visits and residential trips.
Fostering teamwork and life skills, activities such as hill-walking, camping and orienteering, the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme broaden students’ horizons, encouraging their happiness and success.

Adventure-seeking students may also pursue expeditions to far flung destinations, giving them a chance to travel the world and experience different cultures.
