Bishop Vesey's Grammar School Entrance Criteria

School: Bishop Vesey's Grammar School


To be eligible for a place, applicants must sit an entrance test and achieve the qualifying score or above.  The test is provided by CEM and is made up of two papers, each approximately 50 minutes long. Each test paper is divided into smaller individual sections that test verbal ability (reading & comprehension and literacy skills), non-verbal ability and mathematics. Bishop Vesey's Grammar School Priority Catchment Area

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School no longer has a residence requirement, pupils are admitted on the basis of their performance in the test. Applicants are ranked according to their test score and then priority will be given to:

  • Looked after children and previously looked after children who achieve a qualifying score;
  • A limited number of children (38) registered for Pupil Premium (those who are/have been registered for free school meals or have received them at any point in the past six years) who achieve a qualifying score and then;
  • Those who live nearest to the school (only where test scores are equal)
